The cemetery of Tcherkess-born Dilbar Hanem is unique. In part it is the product of the tragic loss of her only son Ahmed Shukry Bey aged 28 who, according to Dilbar Hanem's granddaughter, Dilbar Sadek, died of food poisoning after a lobster meal. The devasted Dilbar Hanem bequeathed 60 feddans for the upkeep of her cemetery, her adjoining preparatory school, and several annexes including a rest house and two apartments.
The wife and daughter in law of senior government administrators, Dilbar Hanem died in 1949 survived by daughters Neamat and Yildiz, and several grandchildren among them several Faizis, two al-Azems and Dilbar Sadek.
