daughter of Khedive Ismail, sister of King Fouad and wife of Ottoman officer/diplomat (ambassador to Berlin in 1913) Mahmut Mokhtar Pasha



aside from its aesthetic merits the Nimetullah Mokhtar mausoleum is noteworthy for having its inscriptions in Ottoman Arabic script long after the language reforms of 1924-5.


the Circassian-born wife of Khedive Ismail, Neshedil "joy of the soul" Kadinefendi, d. 26 January 1924 in Nice, France.
Neshedil's tomb sits in the center of the mausoleum flanked by the tombs of her two daughters
